WINDOWS DIRECT warranties its windows and door products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship that impair their proper operation beyond normal parameters, and which is installed at the residential property described on the attached limited warranty card. This limited warranty shall not apply to any product installed on commercial property. For new construction, multi-family dwellings and apartments, the warranty period shall be (10) years from the date of purchase. 1. MATERIALS; WINDOWS DIRECT warrants for lifetime that the frames and sashes contain no defects and are subject to limitations listed below, that the product will not crack, warp, pit, corrode, peel or blister and that it will maintain its proper color characteristics under normal use for a period continuing for as long as the original owner, or his or hers transferee continues to own the same house in which the product is installed. 2. PARTS; WINDOWS DIRECT warrants for a lifetime all moving parts against defective materials and workmanship including the balances, locks, keepers, screws, rollers. 3. INSULATED GLASS; Bestview warrants for a lifetime that the insulating glass portion of the product will not fail. A failed insulating glass unit is one that develops a significant obstruction of vision resulting from a moisture formation or dust collection between the interior glass surfaces caused by failure of the hermetic seal . Stress cracks are warranted for a lifetime as determined by the glass manufacturer. 4. EXCLUSIONS FROM WARRANTY; This warranty does not cover defects or damages due to installation or any consequences of faulty installation, failure, damage, or deterioration caused by faulty installation, normal weathering, chalking, caulking, fading, corrosive chemicals, settlement, structural shrinkage or distortion of the structure, building heat or excessive temperature exposure, all acts of God, misuse or abuse. This warranty does not cover breakage of glass or torn screens resulting from misuse or abuse. This warranty shall be void if any alterations or modifications are made to the product as installed. Small marks, scratches or spots do not constitute a failed insulated glass unit. Condensation on the glass which may occur as the natural humidity within the house or building area or as a result of interior/exterior temperature differential does not indicate a defect in the window and is not covered by this warranty. Insulating glass unit seal failure resulting from glass breakage is not covered. The insulating glass warranty shall not cover or apply to the following products or situations; special types of glass; glass units other than stock or standard descriptions; glass units damaged in installation; units installed in areas of excessive moisture or heat or otherwise abused; glass units to which aftermarket films or coatings have been applied or if windows are painted, varnished or coated with any form of alternative substances. 5. REMEDY: WINDOWS DIRECT will at its sole discretion, repair or replace free of charge, including parts and labor, any window proven to be defective in material or workmanship during the applicable warranty period. If Windows DIRECT is unable to repair or replace we will refund the current dealer list price as long as the original purchaser, or the transferee owns the property at which the windows are installed. 6. CLAIMS: Any claim under this warranty must be made within the applicable warranty period. After discovery of defect, Home owner will be required to contact the contractor/dealer who installed the windows in question. The contractor/dealer will be required to inspect the windows in question and furnish Windows Direct with a completed Service Request Form outlining the defects in the windows. 7. WARRANTY TRANSFER: This warranty is transferable only once from original purchaser. Any claims by new transferee will be honored if the following criteria have been met: Windows Direct will be notified in writing within 45 days after the date of ownership transfer; and the transferee must send completed form. Failure to receive these criteria and the original warranty number will result in cancellation of warranty coverage. GLASS BREAKAGE WARRANTY AND ENDORSEMENT: This glass breakage warranty is a separate authorization and is nontransferable. A fee of $5.00 per window and $15.00 per door will allow the owner to order new glass to be installed in any window and/or door if broken for any reason due to accident, neglect, acts of God, etc. This warranty is limited to (3) glass units over any (5) year period.
